Obese individuals are more susceptible to infertility and sub-fecundity. The adverse effects of obesity on reproduction are attributed to a variety of ovarian and extra-ovarian factors. Additionally, obesity is associated with lower fertility rates and higher gonadotropin requirements, along with a higher miscarriage rate than normal-weight cases. In men, obesity can hamper fertility because of disruption of the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis (HPG), increase in testicular temperature, impairment of sperm structure and quality, and peripheral vascular disease.
In association with CMS , we invite you to join us in an upcoming webinar on the intricacies of obesity-associated infertility by Dr. Gandhali Deorukhkar, on September 23rd, 2021, from 6 PM onwards. Stay tuned for more!
