Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak is a complication associated with lumbar spine surgery. Over the years, significant advancement has occurred in understanding the etiology, management, and techniques to treat the postoperative CSF leaks. However, the management techniques are based on each surgeon's experience, a clear understanding of the underlying factors, the nature and the site of the leak. This article provides an overview of the etiology, diagnosis, and the management options which are well described in the literature.
