Three-month-old baby  brought by the mother with the complaint of keeping eyes open. No other illness. Gaining weight. Developmental milestones normal. Clinical examination  within normal limits. Eyelid closure and opening normal during a wakeful period. No retraction of eyes.

ocular movements in all directions normal.There was no proptosis  As this was seen in many babies earlier, and followed up this disappeared and grew up normally. Here in the photo taken while a baby is asleep  almost one-third of a cornea is exposed . This was observed during the newborn period. The cornea was intact. This is not the case  when an older kid develops this problem  where eyeballs protrude or defective closure of eyes (thyroid dysfunction.orbital malignancies, glaucoma and LMN facial palsy)  we take precautions to avoid corneal injury .
