Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a long-term condition which affects kidney function. In this condition, excess fluids including electrolytes and wastes that remain in the blood, build up in the body. The term CKD basically covers the majority of the renal ill-health conditions. It is a silent killer and develops quietly without showing any symptoms. Hence, the diagnosis becomes strenuous. Kidney impairment that lasts for more than 3 months is termed as Chronic Kidney Disease.

CKD does not create any disturbances until it reaches an advanced stage. It can be detected earlier by blood and urine tests. Personal and family history is also important in the diagnosis of CKD.
