If you have not, you probably should! A novel study has found 60% greater alcohol-related death in psoriasis patients. According to a population-based study published in JAMA Dermatology, psoriasis patients were found to be 60% more prone to die from alcohol-related pathologies than non-psoriasis patients. The study found that these patients die three years earlier than non-affected individuals due to the alcohol-related cause and thus the researchers warrant alcohol screening and treatment for these patients.

The individual risk for alcohol-related deaths was 65.1% for alcoholic liver disease, and 23.7% for fibrosis and cirrhosis of the liver in these patients. 20 years ago, two more studies also found the link between psoriasis and alcohol-related death. Will you ask your psoriasis patients to stop drinking or wait for more clinical validations? ##Reference## Rosa Parisi, PhD; Roger…
