Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are commonly encountered in medical practice and range from asymptomatic bacteriuria to acute pyelonephritis. Enterobacteriaceae with E. coli being the most prevalent are responsible for most commonly acquired uncomplicated UTIs and usually respond promptly to oral antibiotics.
