This was the question posed to me recently on social media. I thought of sharing my reply with my peers and esteemed colleagues on docplexus. Here is my response to the query: In my opinion, you will get different replies from doctors at different stages of their careers. Those who are established and flourishing will say its a great job to have and those still in the learning curve and facing trials and tribulations will say its not worth the effort.
Yet confining the medical profession to patient care alone is being myopic. I think in today’s scenario, where the medical profession is not only in disrepute in many parts of the world, but also extremely competitive (the competition is fierce and intense in some specialties), doctors should develop skills other than medical/clinical practice that can stand them in good course for years to come.
