Doctors at a hospital in Sharjah, UAE, have successfully removed 17 magnets from the stomach of a two-year-old boy. The child’s parents brought him to the hospital with complaints of nausea and inability to eat for three days. He also had not passed stool for two days. The parents were unaware that their son had ingested magnets. Upon examination, a gastroenterologist noted sluggish bowel sounds and ordered an abdominal X-ray. The X-ray image revealed 17 magnets stacked together in the boy’s stomach, each approximately an inch in size.

The doctor performed an endoscopy to remove 13 magnets. The magnets were challenging to separate due to their strong magnetic force.
