According to PCPNDT act " no pre-natal diagnostic techniques shall be conducted except for the purposes of detection of any of the following abnormalities such as (i)chromosomal abnormalities;(ii) genetic metabolic diseases; (iii) haemoglobinopathies; (iv) sex-linked genetic diseases; (v) congenital anomalies; (vi) any other abnormalities or diseases as may be specified by the Central Supervisory Board;". Therefore, any radiological or genetic procedure including amniocentesis must not be practiced for determination of prenatal sex. My question is if during such genetic examination a physician or radiologist find a fetus is hermaphrodite (an intersex condition in which an individual is born with ovarian and testicular tissue), can he inform the parent about this finding?
