When one of our Assistant Professors suggested that we invite Dr. Samarth Ram for the demonstration of his PPH cannula, I did not give much importance. Due to her persuasion we invited him to a workshop to demonstrate his cannula. It took some time for me to understand the significance of his canula in saving lives of women dying due to Atonic Postpartum Hemorrhage. Advantages: It can be used even in PHC without power.
It saves lives where blood is not available. Doesn't cost much It can relieve the tension of Obstetricians while conducting a delivery. The application is easier and more effective than B-Lynch sutures. It is time not only Doctors' community but also for Govt of India to evaluate his contribution to the reduction of Maternal deaths and suitably reward him with PADMA VIBUSHAN. HIS INVENTION IS EXTRAORDINARILY SIMPLE.
