In order to detect diabetic retinopathy, the Dubai Diabetes Centre is studying the possibility of using Artificial Intelligence as an effective method of screening. AI usage can revolutionize screening for diabetic retinopathy patients. To cater to the increasing number of patients, a feasibility study is being carried out which is a part of the expansion plan of the center. As a part of the expansion strategy, the center completed a proof of concept project for the implementation of AI to detect diabetic retinopathy.
This cost-effective strategy of using Artificial Intelligence to screen diabetic retinopathy will provide high-quality care and better utilization of resources, particularly in patients with diabetes.
