Synopsis: Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) are heterogeneous tumors originating from diverse primary sites. These tumors can produce bioactive amines, peptides, and polypeptides. Increased secretion of serotonin and other bioactive substances results in the classical symptoms of diarrhea and flushing associated with carcinoid syndrome.
