Globally more than 500 million females lack adequate facilities for menstrual hygiene management (MHM). Inadequate WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) facilities, particularly in public places, schools, workplaces or health centers can pose a major obstacle to women and girls. On 28 May, Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed to help break the silence and build awareness and educate masses about the importance of good menstrual hygiene.
