Women with endometriosis have 1.5 times more risk to have a preterm birth according to the latest study. This article briefs the clinically relevant highlights from this very significant research. Endometriosis is characterized by abnormal tissue growth outside the lining of the uterus instead of uterine interior. In most cases, the abnormal growth is observed outside the ovary, fallopian tube, uterus and in rare case other parts of the body. Now the researchers have linked the risk of preterm birth with the occurrence of endometriosis. The investigators performed a meta-analysis of six trials comprising a total 50,472 pregnancies in which 39,659 endometriosis cases were reported.
