About 1 and half yr back an infant boy 9 months came for rx of bronchopneumonia.hb was clinically about 6 to 7.hist was the boy was transfused about 4 mnths back in a tertiary ped centre for this anemia and was treated for bpn too.was on hematincs. cbc revealed hb 5.9.wbc normal.plt 1.7.mcv 54.mch 17.mchc 26.rdw 17 microcytic hypochromic.anisopoikilocytosis.HPLC WAS normal.iron prof low iron.so hematinics were continued and got repeated HPLC from other lab which stll was normal .still i strongly suspected thalassemia.LFT AND KFT was normal. chest had crepts and spleen was 1 cm firmly palpable.
being not satified i did another blood invest for thalassemia which proved the diagnosis and BMT CURED the dusease. which invest was done and what was the diag.
