Post-tonsillectomy haemorrhage (PTH) remains a life-threatening challenge, particularly in children and patients with coagulopathy. Conventional management often relies on invasive measures such as cauterisation or surgical re-exploration. A recent review in the European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology synthesised emerging evidence on nebulised tranexamic acid (TXA) as a novel, non-invasive approach. Across multiple observational and cohort studies, nebulised TXA demonstrated rapid haemostatic action, reduced the need for surgical control, and exhibited minimal systemic absorption with few adverse events.
