Epidural Dexmedetomidine 100 mcg for hip and knee replacements along with Bupivacaine, can be safely and effectively used for torturous postoperative pain after hip/ knee replacements. A continuous epidural infusion of Bupivacaine + Dexmedetomidine 200 mcg can also be used, titrating to the pain of the patient. A single epidural bolus dose works for more than 12 hours. Patients are absolutely pain-free.
