An 8-year-old boy was brought to a pediatric epilepsy clinic for assessing episodic altered mental status. Medical history At age 15 months The patient suffered two febrile seizures. Three months ago The first episode of altered mental status had occurred three months before. The boy presented with slow responsiveness, was sluggish, and mildly confused. He could walk, but his speech was not completely comprehensible.
Additionally, he failed to follow instructions and had intermittent forgetfulness, and bilateral ptosis was noted. The patient reverted to normal without intervention after around four hours.
