This south indian baby boy was born with wt of 2.9 kg by cs and i attended the delivery.He was discharged well uneventfully.Mild jaundice develoed on day 3 so was not investigated for it. But on 17th day i got a call regarding excessive ,inconsolable crying so was admitted in same hospital under me for observation.Examination was perfectly normal except icterus .investig revealed jaundice with bil 18,direct 1 and other blood investigations were normal.Urine culture was sent .Anyhow for a day was observed on and did well on supportive care and was discharged after 24 hrs.No antibiotics were instituted.
At home on and off similar episodes of crying continued for several nights and days but they were apprehensive to admit so continued to follow up in OPD.Jaundice gradually reduced and sevarl examinations didnt reveal anything.After about 10 days of discharge on search for another kids…
