The USFDA has approved the combination of tremelimumab and durvalumab along with platinum-based chemotherapy to treat adult patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) without sensitizing receptor mutation of epidermal growth factor or genomic tumor aberrations of anaplastic lymphoma kinase. The drug combination was approved based on the randomized POSEIDON trial of 675 patients, which showed statistically significant and clinically relevant improved survival rates in patients with metastatic NSCLC.
