Patients who receive beta-blockers along with statins as adjuvant medication prior to cardiac surgery recover much faster than those who do not receive these, a new study has suggested. The beta-blockers and statins are some of the common drugs which are prescribed during cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Statins help in controlling LDL (especially cholesterol) levels in the blood whereas beta-blockers are commonly prescribed in the regulation of cardiac rhythm. The new study published by doctors from the USA, claims that patients who receive beta-blockers and statins prior to the cardiac surgery perform much better than patients who do not receive such treatment.
