The US FDA has approved the first continuous glucose monitoring system for adults that reduces the need for fingerstick testing. It is intended for diabetes patients ≥ 18 years. This monitor will bring relief to millions of patients by replacing painful fingerpicks by just a wave of the mobile reader. Some diabetes patients must monitor their blood levels multiple times per day by a traditional fingerstick test.

This continuous glucose monitor may be a viable option for such patients as it doesn’t require blood sample calibration and therefore reduces the need for fingerstick testing.
