Dental health and its impact on the systemic health and vice versa has been extensively documented. The complications of periodontal disease, i.e.

gum and bone disease in pregnancy and postpartum have been the prime area of concern. The proposal has also submitted the published research supporting the complications of periodontitis and its effect on pregnancy, maternal health and child birth, i.e. risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes, i.e. preterm/low birth weight (PT/LBW).
