Sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) is the clinical term used to denote any abnormality in the genetic make-up of sperm DNA. DNA fragmentation is one of the causes of male subfertility and accounts for in vitro fertilization (IVF) failures and miscarriages. The SDF test analyses the sperm DNA integrity that is used to identify the risk of subfertility in men and also provides the basis for the treatment. Antioxidant therapy is one of the promising treatments for SDF.
A combination of several supplements like L-carnitine, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B9 and B12, zinc, selenium, and coenzyme Q10 are used as antioxidants for treating DNA fragmentation.
