Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, relapsing skin inflammation affecting over 17% of adults and 22% of children every year. In the case of moderate-to-severe AD, systemic treatments such as systemic corticosteroids, phototherapy, and immunosuppressants are essential. However, the adverse effects of these systemic treatments necessitate safe and effective long-term therapy for refractory AD. In addition, biological therapies for AD are associated with the onset of paradoxical adverse effects, which is a challenging issue. Therefore, biological therapies must undergo a careful clinical and immunological evaluation.
