Strangely India is not a country where your qualifications, resume and publications matter much when it comes to your selection for a particular job in a big hospital, especially in the private sector. It’s usually by the word of mouth – the word of peers and colleagues most of the times and occasionally that of a minister, politician or a bureaucrat especially if he/she happens to be your father-in-law or father that will place you on the high pedestal. Unfortunately most of us are not related even remotely to the driver/watchman or a milkman of any of the above mentioned dignitaries and we need have to work our way through sheer grit and determination and against all odds.
