High morbidity and mortality rates are associated with bariatric and metabolic procedures following COVID-19 infections. There is a need for recommendations for the management of patients scheduled for bariatric surgeries with a history of COVID-19 infection. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure is found to be effective and safe for patients with diabetes mellitus and there are reduced cardiovascular risk factors in Asian Indians with a BMI lower than 35.
