The World Health Organization, in association with its partners, has launched the first-ever Global Roadmap to Defeat Meningitis by 2030. The WHO announced this strategy at a virtual event that focuses on preventing infections, enhancing care and diagnosis for those affected. The goal is to eliminate bacterial meningitis outbreaks and reduce mortality by 70% and the number of cases by half by 2030. According to the estimated figures of the organizations, the method has the potential to save over 200,000 lives per year and considerably reduce disease-related disabilities.
