A good news landed for resident doctors in Maharashtra last week. The State cabinet has approved the hike in the stipend for resident doctors. The cabinet approved hike of ₹ 5,000 per month. The revision of the stipend in the State of Maharashtra is conducted every three years. Previous revisions in the stipend were done in 2009 and 2012. In July this year, after long protests Government officials promised to increase the stipend considerably.
Last week the subject of hike in the stipend was put for a discussion in the cabinet meeting. The government has hiked the stipend by ₹ 5,000 per month. The stipend for junior residents is estimated to start around ₹ 47,217 whereas for senior residents it will be close to ₹54,110 per month.
