In order to solve the problem of scarcity of doctors in rural regions and also to provide the doctors with experience, the Maharashtra state government has now made rural service mandatory for private medical college graduates. According to the Medical Education Minister, a portal will keep a track of medical and dental graduates serving in rural areas. The students graduating from private medical colleges have to follow the same rule as that of government medical colleges, the Minister added.

“This is a compulsion for government and civic run colleges. This will solve the problem of doctors in rural areas and medicos will gain experience as well,” he stated. Source: The Free Press Journal
