A doctor in a private hospital in Sonipat, Haryana, allegedly removed both the kidneys of a 38-year-old female patient despite only one being affected by a kidney stone. According to the patient’s husband, she was diagnosed with a kidney stone in her left kidney one year back. In April this year, the doctor at the private hospital informed the husband that his wife’s kidney was severely damaged and needed to be removed to save her life. A renal scan revealed that her damaged kidney was functioning at 16% while the other kidney was functioning at 86%.

After considering the situation, the patient’s family consented to the surgery. Following six-hour surgery, the patient was transferred to the ICU .
