The Bombay High Court (HC) permitted abortion of 30-week pregnant woman who already has a child with down syndrome. While examination, her unborn child was detected with multiple neurological abnormalities. Therefore, the court allowed the woman to terminate her pregnancy. In the month of February, the woman came to know that she was pregnant. Till August scans appeared to show a healthy fetus, but later an ultra-sonography report revealed neurological abnormalities.
The woman and her husband already have a child with Down’s syndrome and they had faced a lot of medical problems. Therefore, she approached the high court in order to get a legal approval to terminate the pregnancy. For this issue, the women filed the petition in the high court.
