One-year bond service is compulsory after the completion of MBBS. However, it sometimes gets hectic to undertake services as students need to manage taking exams for their PG along with the 1-year service. In this regard, recently, the Bombay High Court has ordered that students in Government medical colleges will not have to undertake the compulsory bond service of one year instead they can go for PG courses. The order will be effective in starting 2019-20.
This clause is valid only for those students who have been admitted before October 12, 2017. However, the Director of Directorate Medical Education and Research (DMER) cleared the thought that those students will have to complete their bond service after their PG courses, and will have to undergo two years of bond service.
