India mainly depends on imports for medical devices. Over 85% of the medical devices are imported into the country causing the domestic industry accounting for about 2 percent of the global industry which stands at USD 250 billion. Recently, with the intent to support the Make in India Initiative and equip with world-class products at an affordable price for treatment, the government has given a green signal for the development of 4 industrial areas as medical device parks for the manufacture of healthcare devices . The 4 medical device parks are proposed to set up in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala .
