The clipping below is a TOI Article about a heart transplant we did where our surgeon flew to Pune , retrieved a heart from a brain dead donor and flew back to Delhi , came to AIIMS and did a heart Transplant. We started the Heart transplant program in India, and In the past two year, AIIMS has done about 8 Heart transplants (total about 45) , and in North India, Delhi, Mumbai , Chandigarh , Jaipur many hospitals have started doing heart transplants. The day we got the heart from Pune, we had two more hearts available , a B positive and an AB positive but we had no recipient. This post is an appeal to all the readers to spread awareness.
