Need for Healthcare Reforms The aim of this special theme-based issue is to re-examine the central problems relating to Healthcare in India, to assess the effectiveness of National Policies and to stimulate the development of new national strategies for the public health. It is designed to achieve these aims by analyzing the issues in an accessible language by defining some targets or priorities for public policy and, by establishing the agenda for public and political debate about how the nation might best re-establish its pre-eminence in the pursuit of public health. The universal goal of the healthcare system is to ensure adequate access to quality care at a reasonable price.
