A 17-year-old young patient was operated upon for left inguinal hernia under spinal anaesthesia in a Government Hospital. Standard hernioplasty using prolene mesh was done. The total duration of surgery was about 1 hour. Patient complained of pain at post-operative site after 4 hours post surgery, had few episodes of non-bilious vomiting. Symptomatic treatment is given for the same. Vitals found to be stable. In next 30 minutes patient developed severe sweating and collapsed suddenly.
Despite all resuscitative measures he could not be revived and declared expired. Cause of death remains unknown at that time. Post-mortem report says about 1.5 liter blood found in peritoneum and cause of death is hemorrhagic shock due to laceration of the peritoneum. Surgeon Booked under 304A IPC.
