Since the very first year of MBBS, all the students are told that doctors must maintain emotional distance with their patients. Doctors should empathetically relate to their patients, being objective enough to provide the best possible healthcare.
This doctor-patient relationship equation is already sorted in some specialties, such as surgery where a certain distance has become expected, while in other specialties such as pediatrics, general medicine it is still a concerned question. So, in your opinion, how close is too close with patients?
