A new study published online Jan. 22, 2019 in Pediatrics provides evidence that the cancer-preventing vaccine to protect against human papillomavirus (HPV) has been effective in a community setting in offering protection against strains of the virus and in offering herd protection since it was introduced 11 years ago.

The prevalence of 4-valent and 9-valent vaccine-types of HPV decreased significantly among unvaccinated women, which suggested herd protection or community immunity. Source-  AAP
