As there is no universally accepted system of classification for such conditions, the comparison between the efficacies of different surgical techniques for ventral hernias becomes difficult. Due to an increased level of complexity in ventral hernia and considerable variability in surgical management, tailoring the approach to match the need of an individual patient is of utmost importance.
