The Ranga Reddy District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has held a private hospital in Hyderabad liable for medical negligence and directed it to pay ₹15 lakh as compensation to the family of a deceased patient. In addition, the Commission ordered the hospital to refund ₹2.28 lakh collected towards treatment expenses, along with nine per cent annual interest, and to pay ₹30,000 towards litigation costs. The case dates back to 2024, when the patient was admitted to a hospital in Banjara Hills with complaints of weakness. Clinical evaluation and diagnostic investigations reportedly revealed low haemoglobin levels, and the treating doctors advised blood transfusion as part of the management plan.
