Hypopyon is a medical condition involving cells in anterior chamber of the eye it is a leukocytic exudate in AC usually accompanied by redness of conjunctiva and the underlying episclera important causes are bacterial keratitis fungal keratitis postoperative intraocular inflammations granulomatous uveitis 4 miscellaneous in keratitis toxins from ulcer enter the AC irritate iris and c body leading to exudation and outpouring of cells leukocytes which get collected at bottom of ac as hypopyon difference between bacterial and fungal hypopyon is bacterial. Hypopyon is fluid and moves fungal is thick inipated and does not move we get hypopyon in Bechets disease it is sterile one does get it in retinoblastoma and is called as pseudo hypopyon.
