The estimated number of cancer cases across Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh increased by nearly 10% over five years, reflecting a steady rise in the regional cancer burden, according to estimates from the Indian Council of Medical Research's (ICMR) National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP) presented in Parliament by the Union health ministry. The NCRP estimates showed that the combined number of cancer cases in the three neighboring states increased from 78,514 in 2021 to 86,352 in 2025 , representing an additional 7,838 cases and an overall increase of 9.98% during the five-year period. This trend closely mirrors the national estimate, where the cancer burden increased from 14,26,447 cases in 2021 to 15,69,793 cases in 2025, a rise of 10.05%.
