He informed his mother during a casual conversation that he is always thirsty. His mother is also a known case of diabetes for the last 7 years and on regular medication. She remembered the content of the diabetic education poster from diabetes clinic; she visits regularly and she advised him to visit her doctor. On physical examination, his BP was 134/86 mm Hg and BMI 26.8 kg/m 2 .
He denies any cigarette or alcohol use; his lifestyle is sedentary and he spends maximum time in the office doing his office work. Random plasma glucose was 342 mg/dL.
