In a recent move, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) issued strict warnings to the government as well as private laboratories and hospitals in Gurugram against indulging in malpractices such as overcharging, and not following the standard treatment protocols for the cases of vector-borne diseases. This move came after recent reports that diagnostic centers and hospitals in the city are charging a hefty fee for carrying out tests for vector-borne diseases . In this regard, IMA has issued an advisory by which the rates for dengue and chikungunya tests were fixed.
The rates for NS1 antigen and ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) tests for dengue and chikungunya were fixed at Rs 600, and Rs 1,000 for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for chikungunya.
