IMA has rejected the Parliamentary Standing Committee’s recommendations on the National Medical Commission (NMC) bill and has declared an indefinite strike from April 2. The Parliament had suggested following major revisions in the present NMC Bill: Bridge course should not be a mandatory provision No separate licentiate exam for medical students. National Licentiate Examination (NLE) should be integrated with the final year MBBS exam. There should be 29 members of the Commission; 9 of them should be elected representatives of medical fraternity, while 10 should be nominated by states.

Increase the regulation of fee in private medical colleges from 40 to 50%.
