Hospitals at all levels must adopt a systematic approach to better identify and prevent medical errors, especially those that frequently occur among illiterate patients. This article highlights key recommendations to strengthen error detection and minimize high-risk situations that could compromise patient safety. Given the current literacy rate, particularly in rural areas, healthcare professionals and administrators should design patient safety systems that account for diversity and literacy challenges.
