Soon after the dreadful Gorakhpur tragedy, another Raipur based hospital has notified the death of 3 children possibly due to lack of oxygen or drop in oxygen pressure. It is a mandatory requirement of a hospital administration to ensure the adequate supply of Oxygen in ICU & essential drugs in pharmacies. Despite this, how do such incidences occur? What are the bottlenecks – the “financial crisis” or the “internal dispute”?

Whatever be the reason, the lives of citizens can’t be risked. Recently IMA has taken the issue rather seriously and made it mandatory for all Government hospitals to comply with the norms of National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH). What level is our system stuck? Political/medical/social or sheer lack of interest?
