A 40 years male was presented with a history of hypertension and hyperlipidemia. He is well-controlled with Lisinopril 5mg, Atenolol 50mg and Atorvastatin 5mg. He is doing well with the treatments, except his pulse rate stays around 50 pm. Which I explained him, it could be due to Atenolol. Now recently he has joined a gym for weight loss and tummy tuck. as per him after gym he gets pulse rate rise to 110 pm.

but after some time, it gets back to the 50. Now his question was as the hike in pulse rate is not sustained, can that let him achieve the goal of weight loss with low pulse rate (and low metabolism rate due to it). Should he consider for change in Atenolol? I went through some of the literature where it mentioned weight gain after atenolol. Can please experts comment on this? Will appreciate the response.
