A 17-year-old with a 1-week history of fever, headache, increasing confusion, and lethargy presents to the emergency room. Physical Examination : Normal He has no focal neurologic signs. Laboratory Results : CT scan of his head is negative. An LP reveals a WBC count of 250/mm3, with 78% lymphocytes and red blood cells (RBCs) 500/mm 3 in tube 1 and 630/mm3 in tube 2, respectively.
